Liam and Michael have arrived! They spent the day resting and went out for a walk in the neighbourhood.
Tonight the kids got together to assemble the team boards. We had to cut them in half to fit them in suitcases. Here's Liam and Helen taping them back together.

April 20
We've just heard that the tournament in Istanbul has been rescheduled for June 2-5, 2010.
April 17
Just as we're getting ready to leave, .....
And then we got an email from the tournament organizers.
Dear TEAM,
Due to ongoing airspace chaos, FLL OEC Smartmove Istanbul is POSTPONED to a later date which will be declared next week.
We apologise for the inconvenience and look forward to welcoming you here in Istanbul when the skies are safe to travel with kids.
We'll post the new date as soon as we hear.
April 11 - New Shirts for the Circuit Stormers
April 10 - The Hurricanes held a bottle drive to raise money for the Circuit Stormers.
The Hurricanes have been amazing in their support of the Circuit Stormers as they get ready for their trip to Istanbul. They've helped with the fund raising, and even let us use their table for extra testing of our robot.
At the bottle drive they raised $875. Thank you!!!!!!
April 8 - The team made their banner.
It has the Circuit Stormers logo in the center (now backed by a red maple leaf).
Then the team members all made handprints in an arch around the logo. In the evening, we were invited to test Circuit 3 on the Hurricane's robot table. Their dynamometer was spun more than ours, and Circuit3 had a hard time getting over it. After looking at the problem, they realized that a one way latch on the back wall was the solution. Once they tested it, everything worked smoothly.
March 2010
Our
flights are booked!!!!
We'll all be arriving in Istanbul a couple of days before the tournament so the
team can get over their jetlag and see a bit of Istanbul.
Circuit
Cycle - We had a great time at our bike-a-thon on March 20 to cycle from
"Frankfurt" to "Istanbul" . We were delighted that
some friends could join us, and another FIRST LEGO team cycled with us
too. It was fun having the Hurricanes be part of bike-a-thon. They
had been collecting pledges too and have raised over $1,500 to help the Circuit
Stormers go to Istanbul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pledges are still being collected for the bike-a-thon. The current
total is over $4,100.
Bottle Drive on March 6 in the Hillside neighbourhood. Thanks for all your support! We raised $480.
February 2010
We're going to Istanbul! The families got together and after looking at the options, the Circuit Stormers want to compete with teams from around the world in Istanbul. Now comes the fundraising. Find out how you can help!
The kids are planning a bike a thon as one of their fundraisers.
January 2010
On Jan. 2, the team held an Open House at Metchosin Community House for friends, family and invited guests. There was some interested discussion about their Safety-T idea for bicycle safety, and the team got practice running the robot in different lighting conditions.
The kids had worked hard and tournament day arrived. It was an amazing day, with the robot scoring a perfect 400 in the second run, and then going across the bridge for their final run. The Circuit Stormers are the 2009/10 BC Champions!
The team were interviewed by reporters for TV (Check Island 30, AChannel
News, Shaw Daily) , newspapers and radio. ( Peninsula
News, Goldstream
Gazette, Victoria
News, and Vancouver
Sun )
December 2009
The team met in early December. They went over what went well at the tournament, what could have gone better, and what they wanted to work on for the Provincial Tournament.
The kids watched a video of from the tournament and talked about what went well and what they wanted to improve. Most of the changes had to do with improving the robot performance. The team set the goal of scoring 400 during the provincial tournament.
November 2009
The Circuit Stormers did a presentation to the grade four class at Sundance Elementary School.
On the 29th, they participated in the Vancouver Island Qualifying Tournament held in Mill Bay. They came first in Robot Performance and have qualified for the provincial tournament that will be held in January 2010.
October 2009
After some field trips downtown and in their own communities, the team choose bicycle safety for the research topic. They've got a design for a 4 wheel drive robot and decided to use robolab as their programming language this year.
Sept. 2009
The Circuit Stormers met for the first time in September 2009 to find out about the Smart Moves FIRST LEGO League Challenge.
