First Lego League Tournament
On November 25, 2006, the Nano Stormers competed in the British Columbia First Lego League tournament.
The tournament went pretty well. There were 33 teams.
After the Nano Stormers finished their first round of robot competitions, they were in second place on mission points. Unfortunately, that score was their high for the day. Other teams did better in their 2nd and 3rd rounds but our team was still fairly high in mission points at the end of the day.
Their research presentation went well. The judges were interested in their topic and liked their display board.
The teamwork interview was not at all what we were expecting. The judges were in the room, and there were two wooden mazes that were held up with ropes. They had to work as a team to roll a marble through the maze. The judges watched how they worked as a team.
The technical interview was pretty much what we thought it would be. There was a practice table and they talked about the design and programming of each of the missions.
At the end of the competition, there was an awards ceremony. Every team member got a metal. Then there were trophy awards for first, second and third place in Robot Design, Teamwork, Robot Performance and Research Project.
The Nano Stormers were thrilled when they won first place in teamwork!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
